The ATEX (acronym for Explosive Atmosphere) directive consists of two directives from Parliament and the Council of Europe with the intent to conform legislation of the member states in all matters that concern what equipment and work environment is allowed in an environment with an explosive atmosphere.

There are multiple situations where there are risks regarding the formation of potential explosive atmospheres, especially during production process, transformation or stocking of chemical, gas, and powder products.
The ATEX directive subdivides the risk zones into different classifications according to the danger.

IVG obtained from the INERIS (an institute authorized by the French Ministry of the Environment that works on reducing environmental risks) the certification which homologates three different categories of hose suitable to be used in an ATEX environment.
Specifically, the chemical hoses CHEM SUPERTOP LL/16/COND, CHEM THUNDERFELX BLACK, and the oil hose OIL GENOVA LL GLOBAL.   All hoses are in accordance to the EN 12115 standard.
It is important to highlight that the rubber hose itself cannot be confirmed in accordance to the ATEX directive, therefore they cannot be marked with the “Ex” symbol.  A rubber hose, which is part of  the equipment deemed suitable to work in an ATEX environment, can only be confirmed suitable to work in the environment.
Thanks to the certification obtained for hose application in ATEX environments, IVG hose guarantees not only excellent performance technically, but also a better guarantee of safety for all those that use them.

Shortly after the successful presentation of the Food Vinoflex hose with a corrugated cover and patented plastic Easyshell fittings, IVG takes another step forward.
Truck Caracas TRbF easy is a light and very flexible tank truck hose, thanks to the special structure which allows exceptional handling. With the new EasyShell system, it is easier and safer to apply any type of fitting. The idea of a hose cover with the special corrugation (specifically designed to mount the EasyShell fittings), was developed to be used in many different application fields.
The first companies to try the Truck Caracas TRbF easy are particularly satisfied with the handling, thanks to its surprising light weight: only 2,3 kg/ m in the 3” size. The aromatic and temperature resistance can be agreed upon with the customer.
IVG produces this new hose on 60m long mandrels.
Antartica
There’s quite a bit of excitement at IVG about the completion of a project IceCube.
You’d think that January would be the least likely time for excitement about anything frozen, but the IceCube project is more than just ice. The excitement extends all the way to the South Pole where scientists have completed installation of an extraordinary research tool comprised of over 5000 devices called DOMs and designed to detect mysterious particles called Neutrinos, buried in a cubic kilometer of ice. Mid-December 2010 marked the completion of the IceCube Neutrino Observatory located at the National Science Foundation’s Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in Antarctica. The project spanned more than a decade. Funded by the National Science Foundation, the project is managed by the University of Wisconsin in Madison. This "Discovery Class" neutrino detector uses over 5,000 sensors deployed in the ice, some as deep as 8000 feet. Its purpose is to discover the origin of our universe by studying the trajectories of these neutrinos.
IVG has been chosen to engineer and produce the special hose needed to drill in the ice through a system of cycled hot water. The hose needed to be extremely long (over 9000 feet made of tightly connected 400 foot sections), highly resistant to elongation and capable of working at very low temperatures. The special couplings used were also designed by IVG and needed to guarantee tight connections at extremely high loads while having a very low profile in order to rest easily onto the reel. A Google search of “IceCube Neutrino Observatory” yields roughly 217,000 results with articles and websites explaining the unique system. Any of the search results will provide ample details about the technology and amazing prospects for scientific discovery.

Hydraulic fracturing, commonly referred to as fracing or fracking, is a proven technological advancement which allows natural gas producers to safely recover natural gas from deep shale formations. Hydraulic fracturing has been used by the natural gas and oil industry since the 1940s and has become a key element of natural gas development worldwide. In fact, this process is used in nearly all natural gas wells drilled in the U.S. today. Properly conducted modern hydraulic fracturing is a safe, sophisticated, highly engineered and controlled procedure. Experts have known for years that natural gas deposits existed in deep shale formations, but until recently the vast quantities of natural gas in these formations were not thought to be recoverable. Today, through the use of hydraulic fracturing, combined with sophisticated horizontal drilling, extraordinary amounts of deep shale natural gas from across the United States are being safely produced. IVG has responded to the surge of American needs of frac hoses. From the Marcellus Shale of Pennsylvania to the Barnett Shale of Texas, IVG frac hoses are widely used and accepted as extremely high quality products, reliable and long lasting. We have developed and produced frac hoses with working pressures up to 400 psi.
